Deep into the Zone : a STALKER inspired campaign using Zona Alfa and All Things Zombie

First multiplayer game we had was centered around an abandoned convoy near a nuclear waste burial site.

This blog may have gone silent for 6 year but I began playing/painting miniatures again 2 years ago when I met my current gaming partner. We both fell for Star Wars Legion and decided to build 2 tables worth of scenery to play with (expect blogspots about that later). But as soon as I heard about a new rulebook (called Zona Alfa, written by Patrick Todoroff) inspired by S.T.A.L.K.E.R., I knew I had to try it.

There was an impromptu alliance between a team of scientists, a group of stalker and a military squad.

After playing twice on the first map, we had another game on a different part of the Zone, somewhere near a field hospital.

Despite being a great combat system, describing perfectly anomalies, artifacts and looting in the Zone, Zona Alfa lacks in the roleplay part when compared to ATZ and its extension I, Zombie which provides a lot for a more RP experience (settlement with inhabitants, economy, legal system, recruitment of and by NPC, a very long list of attributes, quirks and phobias to help build unique characters,...)

Even bandits in ambush, large mutants and swarms of zombies were no match for our tripartite alliance !

I will use mainly Lead Adventure miniatures for this campaign, some Eureka/Empress and 3D printed may join later on.

My campaign will have two point of view : from a squad of "western" soldiers (my ZA setting is the STALKER PC game one, somewhere in Ukraine, eastern Europe, around the Chernobyl plant) with unknown intentions and from two young locals (an their dog).

All these (80+minis) were painted by different gentlemen from Lead Adventure Forum, the "Zone civilians" on the far right were converted by their previous owner.
